Proposed Rates for Light and Power—The committeo has requested the Electrical Engineer, in conjunction with tho Town Clerk, to look into the question of the proposed rates for light and power, and to recommend such, alterations as he deems advisable. | Electrically-driven Motor-Waggon .— Tho committee's attention has been draw nto a recently-imported storage battery electrically-driven motor-wag-con With a view to encouraging the use'of electricity for delivery motorcars, the Electrical Engineer recommended that tho current be supplied freo of charge for demonstration purposes, and to the first purchaser for a period of six months, and the comniittee has agreed o this course. Jhe ( current can be supplied rrom midnight ; to 7 a.m., and should the nse of these vehicles become general, a demand will be created for current at the period when there is small demand for i power otherwise. , Pole-line Distributing System. — , There are about 156 instances where the Council's lines interfere with the telegraph and telenhone lines, and many alterations are required which will involve the changing of poles, mostly at street corners and line crossincs. In most cases these alterations will affect tho spacings of tho poles in the streets. This matter is now receiving the attention of the Electrical Engineer. Lighting Band Rotundas by Electricity Electrical Engineer has been instructed to put this work in hand as soon as possible. Sunnly of Electrical Current to Outside TrfV'al Bodies. —The question of the supply of electrical current to the adioinine local bodies has been referred to the Electrical Engineer to make a recommendation, and the committee hones that some arrangement acceptable to the local bodies will be come to <?arlv in the New Year. In reply to a question, Councillor I Taylor, chairman of the Electricity I Committee, said the principal obstacle jin the way of supplying current to pi pees already wired was the lark of insulators.
