HEATHCOTE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Tho Heathcote Valley school committee met on Friday. Present —Messrs Salt, Westhrooke, Collins, Oetgen, and Weir. The headrnaeter :Mr T. A. Gatce) reported tho roll number to be 143, with v daily average attendance of KM.7. The school liact' b«?n mcd.c-illy examined by Dr. Eleanor Baker with satisfactory results. Tho Works Committee wa-s authorised to expend £3 lGs on repairs to school fences. The sub-committee appointed to arrange for breaking-up day ceromoniee, reported that "'Father Chnatmae" woukl arrive at the school by motor-car about 3 o'clock on December 23rd. Practically all the parents had promised to contribute refreshments and, in addition to a short programme, by tho scholars, Mr Salt waa endeavouring to obtain th? assistance of a first-clasa orchestra. Jt was unanimously re- • solved to ask the Hoard of Education to be represented. Messrs Salt, Wcstbrooke, and Weir were requested to obtain photon of all ex-scholars joining the .Yew Zealand Expeditionary Force, with a view of havingtho group framed and placed in o:;c of tho scnool cla?e-roores.
