RANGIORA.

The quarterly meeting of the Rangiora 'Methodist Circuit was held on | Thursday evening. Present—The Revs. ■ W. Wills and J. R. Clark and -even-j teen officials. The balance-sheet submitted by the stewards showed a credit balance of £14 4s lOd. The membership was stated, to be 347. It was decided to ask the Rev. P. W. Fair-lough to preach on October 4th, in the interest of home missions, and the Revs. J. R. Clark and J. F. Martin to address week-night meetings. The __-_ of £2 was voted towards the expenses of students from Cliff College. The meeting emphatically protested against any iucrease of totalisator permits, and tha Circuit ministers were' asked to preach special sermons dealing with the gambling evil. A motion was passed, commending the Bible-in-S—Wofe League, and urging Parliament to pass tho Bill giving the referendum. Satisfactory reports were receivod from the Christian Endeavour Society and schools. A notice of motion was. given, recommending the introduction of the envelope system. Arrangement- were mado for the Sunday Schools' anniversary *-_rvioe_ as follow: —Rangiora, in September; Woodend, October 11th; and Southbrook, in October. The meeting expressed sympathy in their illnesses to .de-dames J. T. Withers, A. Young, and Brewer, and Messrs Whito a*id' Woodficld.
