WHAT CHURCH AND COLLEGE NEED.

There is no one thing more sorely needed this day than a kindling at the heart of the: Church of tho fire which consumed through the Saviour's lifo and made- His death redemptive. A passion for men 1 Has it died oat of the. Church? Has selfishness extin-guish-d it? Has love for tho .esthetic taken its place? Those who do not -tain any crowd of careless and uncaredfor men an opportunity which is itself the Master's call, are pagan, not Christian. If the Church is to stand truo to Chri6t, the passion, for saving men most dominate and direct every institution and enterprise. And it is of supreme importance that ia the .ooileges of the Church this holy passion, bo enkindled and kept at whitest, heat. Tho -peril of college lifo ia not illiteracy, but selfishness —the selfishness which seeks its own, minds earthly things, and draws back from tho hard places whero heroism is needed. Let the CSinrch never cease to pray for a baptism of fire upon the men in the cla_-rooms,_ so shall the rising ministry feel the passion of the Garden and go up steadfastly to the Ch-oss.
