♦"' — : — Ah tho monthly meeting of tho Malvern County Council, all tho members wero present. The following tenders for shingling were accepted.-—Js'os. 1 to 6. E. T. libborn, ls 6d per yard; No. 7. ■_.. L. Robinson, 2s 2d per yard, including spreader; Nos. 8, 0, and 10, T. Mayo, Ss Id per yard. Correspondence was road from McClelland Bros, re- ! garding shingling part of tho Hoinej bush road.—Work to be dono as soon >__> possible. From J. Jewell, regarding j storm-water drain at Coalgate.—To be ; attended to. From the Automobile Association, agreeing to furnish signposts, which the Council undertook to 'erect. From tho Paparua County ..Council, regarding prico" paid- for small "birds.—To; be informed that :• this Council .was • distributing poisoned wheat.gratis, considering that the farmers wero quite alive to their.own interest-, to make tho best use of this, and also that during suit* jible weather men. should be employed to poison and trap. Two delegates were appointed to attend a meeting coaveneid by tho Paparoa Couo_:il. to discuss the formation of a Canterbury or South Island _ Counties' Association. A petition was 'received from severa 1 water-users outsido the County, asking to bo supplied with water from this County's races, and agreeing to pay the current charges for whatever quantity could be supplied.-*"Agreed to. It was agreed to fall in ivith tho suggestion of. the New Zealand Railways Department regarding notice-boards at level crossings. The caretaker reported that the Lake Coleridge workmen had done considerable .damage when erecting poles on the Bealey road. Water had been let out of the sides of the races, and shingle and rubbish left to block tho water supply. Damage had also been don* to the roads through .carting in wet weather.—lt was decided to call tho engineer's attention to the matter.
