e» ■ Mr S. G. Raymond, K.C., Crown Prosecutor, and Mr P. Hunt left for Wellington last night to attend the sitting of the Court of Appeal. Shrimpton. wuo retired from tho Service on superannuation last ■week. Mr Kissel (Chief Postmaster) expressed the feelings of all in his words of regret that so able a man as Mr Shrimpton was leaving tho Service, and in presenting him with a purse of sovereigns and a gold and ruby scarf pin, Mr Kissel wished Mr Shrimpton every happiness in his retirement, and particularly that ho would long enjoy good health. Mr Callaghan (chief j clerk) added his regret at Mr Shrimp- i [ tons retirement, and in doing so extended to him, on behalf of the Civil Service Tennis Club, hearty thanks from that body for the valuable services* ho had rendered. Mr Callaghan also mentioned the fact that Mr Shrimpton (at the age of 65), being still a most competent operator, must surely establish a world's record.
