COMMITTEE REPORTS. Various-committee reports were submitted connected "with the forthcoming Metropolitan. Show. CATTLE. ■■■~ Tbe Cattle.Committee recomiuended: —That the young farmers'- judging com- , petition "be for .Shorthorn " cows, .in milk; that the competition for "bullock teams be again included in tho schedule; that an extra class be added to dairy Shorthorn section for three heifers got bY one siro, three years or under, to bo judged for breeding and for milk--*ing qualities, may bo entered in other class-e for "which they'aro'eligible first prize £3, second _. 1 10s; that single judging bo adopted in cattle section. : * SHEEP,. .'The Sheep Committee r-Cpmmended: —That tho > definition of Corric<lale should read, "To bo'tbe progeny of halfbred rams from halfbred owes and the result of not less than fifteen years of in-breeding, and shoeing a decided fused type of halfbred. sheep, tho original stock to bo tho progeny of merino and longwool shoep of any puro breed,'* and that in tnditions of halfbred sheep tha following clause be added 1 . "It must bo definitely -stated on entry form whether sheep are 'first cross' or 'in-bred halfbred.'" * * PIGS. The Pig Committee recommended: — That in class 315, three bacon pigs not to exceed 340 pounds, tho weight to bo reduced to 300 pounds; and that the system of single judging be adopted in tho pig 6ecti-ii. IMPLEMENTS. The Implements Committee recommended:—That medals be offered on tho lines of last-"year. PRODUCE. Tho Produce Committee recommended that the Agricultural Department b9 asked to make a" display in the pavilion; that tho prizes in tho honey section be increased from first prize 15e, second 7s 6d, to first £1, second lOs, and that in the class for best display of honey, etc., tho prizes be first £3, second £1; and that the system of single judging be adopted in r tho produco section. DRAUGHT HORSES. •Tho Draught-Horso Committee recommended that the following additional classes bo added, to tho heaw draught section:—(a) Colt foaled since Juno 30th, 1913; -(b) filly, foaled sine© June 30th, 1913 ;* first prize £3, second £2; that the following clause be.added to schedule with reference to examination for hereditary unsoundness:—"lm- . ported heiress to bo exempted from examination for thickness of wind on pro- . duction of a certificate from the in- , specting officer appointed to examine ; in tho United Kingdom"; and that the date of the horse parade bo fixed for Wednesday,-September 16th. •.Mr Peryman proposed an ameudment * to.,the"*third clause that the c_au_o should be subject to the approral- <

of tho Government veterinary surgeon. Mr Gri&g seconded the amendment. Ho said thero should be no distinction oetwoen the imported horse and tho horso locally bred. Tho amendment was carried. . LIGHT HORSES. The Light Horse Committee recommended that Class 261,.f0r pair of cobs Io hands o r under, be deleted owing to lack of competition; that a gold medal valyed at £2 2s be offered for champion pony under 14.2 hands; that tho trotting section bo open to trotters and pacers; and that the system of single judging bo adopted in the light'horso section. Mr YD. McMillan moved iha*. tho word "pacers" in tho third clause be struck out. The Chairman said that most of the horses were now pacers. Mr. Boag said that a separate class should for pacors. Mr Gfigg agreed with this. A trotter was moro likoly to produce good remiunte. whereas a pacer would hot. Mr Seth Smith suggfested that the clause should bo referred back to tho committoe, Tho secretary said that .-it the last Show there wero four classes for trotters, but there were only two entries, one being a -trotter and the other a pacer. It was decided to refer the. clause hack to the Light Horse Committee. Mr "W. X>. Stewart contended that if the single system was to apply to any horso section; it should apply to all. The heavy section was still left to the other system of judging. Tho President said thero were two types of horses to be considered in the heavy ';• and that was the trouble. Another member said that ...tho Draught Horso Committee had considered the mattor carefully, and could hot recommend the single judging system. The recommendations of tho committees, with amendments noted, were adopted.
