(BY OCB COMMERCIAL EDITOS.) Tuesday Evening. The loca] grain market is in a very quiet state, there being no offerings trom the country, and little or no enquiry for grain. So far as wheat is eoncorned, the most demand is for fowl wheat. There is little business to be done in feed oats, and since the London market.declined the demand for A grade oats has fallen off. ' The potato market is very quiet, and the tone is, if anything, rather easier, though there is no change in prices. The undermentioned are the prices paid to farmers at country stations, r'reo of commission, sacks extra, excepting where otherwise stated: — Wheat (nominal) —Tuscan, 3s 7d to Zs 8d ; Hunter's, 3s 3d to 3s 9d; Pearl, 3s 9d to 3s 10d; fowl wheat. 3s 4d to 3s (3d. Oats —Algerian, Is 7d to Is 8d; Danish, Is Gd; Duns, Is 7d to Is Bd. Barley—2s Cd to 2s 9d for best samples. Cocksfoot—Bright and heaw samples up to -i.Jd: average, 3d to 3Jd. White Clover—9d to 10d. Jlod. Clover—7d to 7sd. Flour—£lo per ton; 1001b bags, £10 10s; 501b bags, £10 15s; 251b bags, £11. •■ Bran—£4 os per ton, local. Pollard , —£6 per ton. Oatmeal —£12 per ton. Oatsheaf Chaff—£2 5s to £2 10s for good samples. Onions—£3 10s to £3 15s. Potatoes —£2 los, and up to £3 for forward delivery, at handy stations; £2 10s upwards at distant stations; early seed potatoes, £4 15s to £5. Peas —Partrfßge, 3s M to 4s; Blue Imperial (nominal), 3s 6d; Blue Prussian (nominal), 3s. EGG MARKET. The Egg Farmers' Associatoin reports that at the auction sale of Feather Brand eggs yesterday, first grade brought from Is 4|d to Is sd; second grade, Is 4d to Is od; and duck eggs, Issd. . ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET. There was a good attendance at the weekly stock sale held at the Tinwald yards- yesterday, when the entry showed a vast improvement on previous sales. The yarding totalled 6497, as against 1489 last week at the Ashburton yards, and included 425 fat ewes, 339 ' fat wethers, 1214 fat lambs, and 4519 store sheep and lambs. The quality of the ewes and lambs yarded in the fat pens varied greatly and prices showed a wide range, ewes-making from 14s to 21s 6d, and lambs from 14s 3d to 19s 10d. Freezers' buyers were again operating, but were not so keen, but desr>itd this every line with the exception of two pens of lambs, which were passed at 16s 9d and 14s 6d respectively, found buyers by auction or privately. The store'sheep, both as regards.the yarding and the demand, was the best for some months past, tho yarding including 2892 hoggets and 3iO wethers, the balance being ewes. There was keen competition, and of the yarding only '547 were passed by auction.
