DOMAIN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. Th& monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held J-esterday afternoon. Present: Messrs H. J. Be3wick (chairman), G. Harper, F. A. Anderaon. J. A. McCullougb, G. W. C. Sxnlthson, H. Holland, and \V. 5. Cooper, aud Dr. E-. Levinge. Tho Son. E. C. J. Storena forwarded Bank of Sow Zealand deposit slip, showing £&J9 U s 3d deposited as receipts from ihe said of ChmtcJiurch Tramway Board debentures. The Hon. O. Loujsson, on behalf of the trustees of tho Acclimatisation Society's grounds, wrote, stating that the trustees could not refund the sum Of £133 6a Id. which the Board had expended on improvements to the riverbank between the curator's cottaso and the society's bridge, as it would be improper for any money to bo-paid until the work for which the money was intended was well in hand. It was decided to ask the trustees ror the the Board having docided that it wonld not go on with tho projected rockwork until tho curator returned from Engluud with the latest ideae. The Canterbury Hockey Association wrote, asking permission for hockey players to take their motor-cycles into the South Park on Saturdays. It was decided to reply that the bylaw prohibited this being done. Mr Andereon moved that permission should bo granted, and said he did not think tho privilege would be abused any niore than it was at present. His motion was not seconded. S The Sports Ground Committee reoomraended tho Board not to proceed j with the proposed drainage of a portion lof the South Hagley Park at present. The committee reported that" several football grounds were available trhich would require very l}tt]e expenditure of labour to take tho place of those lying in the drainage aVea. The committee also recommended that a report and survey of the re3fc of South Hagley Park be obtained, with a view tjo-. the consideration of - a comprehensive schemo of drainage. The report was adopted. ' Tho acting-curator's report on the work dove during .June was adopted. A letter was received oil behalf of the residents of Park lane, asking the Board to consider the question of forming.* footpath in tho South Park, from the gato on the West Belt, opposite the lane, to the cricket gate on the Riccarton xoad. The short cut from Park lane to the point mentioned was very much used by pedestrians The acting-curator reported on the proposal, consideration of which was held over. i
