Keferred to Works Committee. it was decided to support the Waimairi Cou-ity Council's protest against tho Domain Board's levy. Owing to the enforced absence of Cr. J- linger, chairman of the Finance Committoej consideration of the estimates for the year 191-115 was deferred. The chairman of tho Works Committee was authorised, however, to p:occed with any necessary works provided for in the estimates. The Financa Committee's report wae as follows:—Receipts. £5Q 11s 'Id, expenditure £148 10s Bd, debit balance at bank 10s Sd, and deposits £1500 14s 2d. Five building permits wero issued during the fortnight for construction, valued at £t9o. The-Finance Committee recommended that the Council strongly protest against tho ever-increasing contribution demanded by tho North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, sucli contribution being out of all proportion to tho increase of the borough's population.—Adopted. Mr J. Bosom worth was appointed town cierk, vice Mr L. Mooro resigned.
