The Rt. Hon. Sir" William Reynell Anson, P.C., D.C.L., was born at Walberton, Sussex, in November, 1843, and was educated at Eton and Baiiiol College, Oxford. He had been member for Oxford University since 1899, a trustee of the National Portrait Gallery, since 1994, and Warden of All Souls' College, Oxford,,since 1881. He was also Chancellor of the Diocese of Oxford from 1899 to 1912, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education from 1902 to 1905. His publications include "The Principles of the English Law of Contract" and "The Law and Custom of tho Constitution." He also edited the Memoirs of the third Duke of Grafton. His heir is Mr Frederick Arthur Anson, Piraki, Banks Peninsula, Cantorbtuy.
