Even if he did not hear tho call to "Keep ahead," as a seaman he ought to havo known what to do. There waa no explosion, but tho escaping steam might, have mado a . noise like ono.

Tho Storstad rescued only a few of the survivors. A Governmont steamer, with flagflying at half-mast, brought 175 coffins to Quebec. It is believed that tho remainder ot the de_d aro -till imprisoned in tho hull of tho Bunkcn liner.
