A COMPLAINT.
TO THE I.DITOR OF "THE PBESS." Sir, —1 would like to have a letter in your columns of the jtisti<.o meted out at the Magistrate's Court. I was convicted and fined for riding a motorcycle at an excessive speed over a crossing, after swearing on oath that I did not go over the crossing on the day in question, and that I could bring a witness to prove that tho bicycle wasn't rsed on that day. Tho sergeant laying tho information would only swear to tho number. Tho constable -who matle the enquiries stated that I admitted the thing at once, but on being questioned said I didn't, which was also proved that T did not. The number •was a registered one. I hold my license te. ride. Any rider could have go<i_ oyer that crossing on the day in question with a number the sauie. and the man who pays his nrgistration fees pays tho penalty I ie-ce.ved the -summons twenty-eight days after the offence, to appear the next morning at 10.30, hence my inability to get hold of my witness or witnesses, this statement being made to the Magistrate, and with a sympathetic comment, I am convicted and fined.
