An attractive new programme was pat ou at the Globo Theatre last night. The fetar film was a drama "Tho Doctor's Secret." After making wonderful discoveries in regard to the cure ot cancer, Dr. Bergmanu, ■who is sutfering from heart disease, iears that ho .. twill not live to see tho fruits of his in- . vention. He wishes to leave the secret to his son, Hans, a boy of six, who lie - hopes v.ill bo a doctor. He confides tho general idea to his friend, Dr. yon Mirtz, but does not toll him tho details. Bcrgmann has fallen asleep on the sofa before tho tire. Yon Mirtz -. enetrs tho room, goes to the drawer, •takes out tho papers, and begins to mako notes. Borgraann awakes, discovers him, and rushes at him. The excitement is too much ior his heart, and ho sinks to tho floor, as yon Mirtz J , thinks, dead. Hβ eteals the manu- \ \ficript and goes for assistance. While ho * , i"s gone, Oscar, an old servant, watches his master. Berginann revives, and has sufficient strength to write a few lines, uhich he encloses in a letter already written to his son, to be given him when he comes of age. He then sinks back, dead. Yon Mirtz adopts Mans and brings him tip as his own, and shortly after accepts a professorship in • America, and goes there with his t daughter Elsa, and Hans Bergmann. By means of Bergmann's discovery, yon . Mirtz wins fame ai>d fortune, but is always nanntpd hy remorse for his past. Hans becomes betrothed to Elsa on his 21st birthday. That night Oscar gives the letter which tells of yon Mirrz's crime into Hans's hands. Yon Mirtz overhears him read it, and coming out of his room, confesses his crime, and . begs for mercy. The shock of the discovery is too much for him, and he expires. Hans realises that his highest duty is to the woman ho is going to make his wife, and so resolves to bury for ever her father's secret. A number of splendid supporting films were shown, these including "Seeing Double," a Bunny comedy; and "Her Faco was Her .Fortune," a love comedy- To-day the - pictures will bo shown continuously from noon till 10.30 p.m.
