ASHLURTON.
The annual St Patrick's Day national concert for Ashburton is to be held on Show niaht (Thursday), lnsteJu of St. Patrick's"Day. Mrs Tipler is to be one of the singers at the concert. On their removal from, the Tinwald district, Mr and Mrs f. C. Clothier wefe entertained by their friends on Monday, and presented with a silver tea-service and an oak and silver tray, suitably inscribed. Mr T. Williams made the presentation, and Mr Clothier briefly responded. A petition has been forwarded to the Government from Rakaia residents, protesting against the proposal to form a Town Board at Rakaia. The Ashburton corps of the St. John Ambulance Association propose holding an "Ambulance Saturday" on April 4th.
