During tho week the weather has been exceptionally fine—some days being oppressively hot. Stoolt threshing in Hinds has now been completed, and grain carting has commenced. Rain came on Saturday night, and continued throughout iSunday. The roads will be improved, as they were getting very rough.

At a special meeting of the. Hinds branch of the C.E.M.S., hold on Friday night, a resolution, urging the Government to obtain a referendum on the question of Bible reading in schools was carried. It was also decided to resuscitate ithe branch, and to meet mouthly.

A meeting of the Sports Club was held on Saturday night. The secretary reported that entries were'coming in freely; that the Temperance Band had been engaged to play selections during the afternoon, and that several handsome trophies had been received for competition. It was decided to remove three names from the committee, to provide the officials with luncheon, and to hold another meeting next Saturday to finally arrange the programme.
