AGAINST REPEAL.

(Received March 16th, 12.45 a.m.) WASHINGTON, March 15. In tho House of Representatives, Mr J£nowland, in opposing a favourable report on the Sims Bill repealing the tolls exemption clause, asserted that the Bill gave notice to the world that the United States had abandoned its policy of an American controlled Canal, and surrendered tho power to control its commerce because of the peace at any price policy. Mr Knowland asserted that thousands of patriotic Americans considered that America was abjectly surrendering her national honour.

A large section of the Press is agitating against the Sims Bill, particularly in districts where Irish and German votere are predominant.
