LEESTON.

At tho fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Loeston Lodge of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity, Bro. H. Jaokso-i, N.G., presided. Seven brethren were reported to be on the sick fund. P.P.G.M. Bro. R. Rodgers. P.G. Bro. James Quigley, and P.G. Bro. A. Baylis were appointed delegates to tho annual meeting, to be held in Cbristchurcii this evening (Monday). It was reported that at the next meeting arrangements would bo made for celebrating tho lodge's thirty-fourth anniversary. The committee of the Leeston Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club met on Friday evening, Mr H. Neavo presiding over a good attendance. ' Tho adion of Messrs Neave and Donald in purchasing an engine and pumping plant on tho club's behalf for pumping water for the bowling green and croquet lnwno, was approved. It was decided to erect a shed for the engine at tho rear o r the site selected for tho pavilion, and to have a IGOO-gallon concrete reservoir constructed to hold water fro;n the- artesian. Messrs Noave and IXonnl«J were appointed a sub-committee to arrange as to the construction of the engine-house and reservoir, and the hoarding for tho bowling green. Dr. Volckman handed the secretary a cheque for £18 <te lid. the proceeds from an entertainment given at Leoston recently by the Loestou Amateur Dramatic Club. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Dramatic Club. A team was selected to represent Lreston in tho Maddisun Trophy competition, tc be played in Christchurcii.
