At n special meeting held on Friday, the Ellcsmere County Council accepted the following tenders: —For carting 309 cubic yards of 6hinglc to Bridge's road, Southbridge, from the Council's pit, T. Jackman, at Is Gd per yard; for carting 500 cubic yards of metal to the Invell-Doyleston road from Marshall's pit. Dnwson Bros., at 2s per yard; for carting 100 cubic yards of metal for repairing the road from Lakeside creamery to Jcnkinson's corner, J. D. Campbell, at 2e per yard; cleaning Ludeniann's drain. 80 chains.. F. Baylis at 2s 3d per chain; for cleaning Ruddock's drain, at Milltown, 40 chains, F. Baylis, at 2s (J.I per chain; for cleaning the Leeston drain, 59 chains, H. Smith, at Is 3d pcr r chain ; for cleaning Lees-ton-Cemetery road drain, 35 chains. V. Balis, at Is (id per chain, "W. McVinnie, jun., was the successful applicant for the position of dog and cattle ranger, lamplighter, etc., at a salary of £2 8s per week.
