TO THE. EDITOB OF "THE PRESS."
fc>ir, —In. Saturday's "Press" my attention Was drawn to s an article under the heading of "Town Hdl Site ,, where a geutlenian signing himself ''Sydenham," is asking through' your paper, if the remarks made by Mr j. Butterfield at the United Burgesses' Association meeting on Thursday, March 12jth, are his own opinions or did he get.the consent of the Sydenham Burgesses Association to make the remarks that . .Sydenham people would not agree to the site, or in lact, to a Town Hall, at all.. I felt that I could not let this matter pass without a protest. • On behalf of the Sydenham Burgesses' Association I may say (that although Mr Butterfield is a member; he hau no authority whatever from this Association to make the remarks he is reported* to have nia/cle, "and the members as an Association do not recognise any biame in the matter for any remnrKa made by auy individual, out I would suggest to Mr J. Butterfieid to"we'gh his words we'-l befoie he gires utterance to them, bec'hk»> tney often look different on paper.—Yours, etc., H. BOTT, Hon. Sec. Sydenham Burgesses' Association.
