The House Judiciary Committee hoard suffrage and anti-suffrngist deputations, the former demanding a constitutional amendment to the United States laws providing for feminine suffrage. Dr. Mary Walker, a noted fominist, specially permitted to wear male garb, who appeared in trousers and a silk hat, made a vigorous plea for women's rights, threatening that women voters throughout the suffrage States would destroy the Democratic Party unless tho demands wero granted. Tho Senate later debated the question. Senator Clapp held that all tho evil influences throughout the United States 60ught to prevent women getting votes, ss they would instantly right many glaring social wrongs.
