(PRESS ASSOCIATION* TIXBGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, March 4. At the Supreme Court George-Thomas Laws, aged 21, married, pleaded guilty to breaking into a store. In tho Magistrates Court Harry Lynno Hartog was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for obtaining £10 by moans of false pretences. He gave an iiotelkeeper where he stayed a £30 cheque on an Auckland bank. After he left the cheque was dishonoured. Accused, who had called himself "Doctor," had stated to some medical gentlemen that he was going to read a paper on "Diseases of the Feet" at the Medical Congress in Auckland. The man is well-known to the police of Victoria. LABOUR DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL IN TROUBLE. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 4. Arthur Richards, a young man, pleaded guilty in tho 'Magistrate's Court to two charges of stealing £1 7s od, tho property of the Labour Department, and lis, the property of the Government. Mr Macassey. for the Labour Department, stated that tlie total amount of moneys received by the accused and unaccounted for, from 13th September, 1 ( J13. to 26th January, 1914, was £92 9s 6d, but full restitution had since beon mado. Tho accused had been in the Labour Department for three years, and had hitherto borno a good character. Tlie Department did not press tor a severe sentence. On the first charge accused was fined £-5 or 21 days' imprisonment; on the second he was convicted and ordered to appear for sentence when called upon. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (I'RESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON. March 4. Thomas Shechan was committed for trial to-day on a charge of "omitting to olxerve his legal duty, which said omission did cause the death of Frank Revell." The said omission was his failure to carry a light on a cart Sheehan was driving, and with which Itevell collided on Thursday night, tho collision resulting in Revell's death. Bail was allowed.
