ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.
There was only a moderate attendance lat the weekly stock sale held at the iTinwald yards yesterday, when the entry of sheep totalled 3193, as again* 356 the previous week, at the Ashburton yards. The yarding of fat sheep totalled 570, and comprised 248 ewes, 274 wethers, and 48 hoggets. There was keen competition* among the butchers for fat ewes, .and prices were very firm', ranging up to 253, while several unfinished lines went to graziers. Of the yarding of wethers every lino, with the* exception of one, was sold by auction at prices ranging up to 265. Prices obtained were as follow: —Prime butchers' ewes 20s lid to 255, medium weights 19s 6d to 19s 10d, unfinished 13s 2d to 15s 7d, prime butchers' wethers 20s 9d to 265, others 19s 3d to 19s 6d, fat hoggets 14s 10d to 17s 6d. The yarding of store sheep totalled 3623, and included 812 hoggets, 583 wethers, the balance being ewes in lamb. Competition was fairly good, and prices were somewhat firmer than of late. Fat cattle were poorly represented, but there was a good yarding of stores, and for cows and heifers coming to calve there was fair demand.
