AFFRAY WITH GIPSIES
GENDARMES WOUNDED. ("Times"-Sydney "Sun" Special Cabk.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received September Ist, 6.50 p.m.) PARIS, September 1. An encampment of gipsies at Montpellier caused disturbances and opened fire on a body of gendarmes ordered to expel them. One gendarme was killed and four wounded. During a wild flight across country the gipsies abandoned twenty carts. One hundred and fifteen gjpsiea were arrested.
