TIMBER MILL DESTROYED.
(By Cable.—Prees Association.—Copyright.) BRISBANE, September 1. One of the most destructive fires for several years almost totally destroyod Raymond's timber yard and sawmill at Newstead. A largo quantity of valuable machinery and over a million and a quarter feet of pine arid a quantity of hardwood were destroyed. The origin of tho fire is unknown. It burned fiercely for several hours, and did damago to the extent of nearly £30,000. The insurances total £7000. Seventy men have been thrown out of work. The firemen had difficulty in preventing the fire spreading to a largo gasometer of tfte Brisbane Gas Company.
