AS OFFICIAL WARNING TO TRAVELLERS.
THE NECESSITY OF VACCINATION
HINTING AT ISOLATION OF
AUCKLAND
(press association- telegram.) WELLINGTON, August 29. The following statement was issued by the Minister of Public Health today:— "For their own convenience l aosiro to impress upon the travelling pubic the necessity of vaccination, especially in the oases of those proceeding down from the Auckland Province. Official certificates endorsing the fact of successful vaccination, can be obtained free of charge from or by the authority of any of the district health officers of Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and J>unedin.
•'I strongly advise those who have been successfully vaccinated and who contemp ate travell.ng, even though not in the next iew days, to obtain these official certificates or passes at the earliest opportunity. "It may be —though I sincerely trust such will not bo the caso —that at any moment the Government may have to require further precautions to prevent any increasing spread of the smallpox epidemic. It is consequently just as well for those who have been vaccinated to secure certificates which will prevent any inconvenience to them when travelling." This official warning is generally regarded, 'though it is not officially stated, as hintiag at the possibility of isolating Auckland to the. extent of allowing no one to leave who has not been vaccinated or who cannot produce a certificate of vaccination.
