IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTING FOOD FERMENTATION IN STOMACH.
Good digestion usually means good health. So long as tho fltomach does its work properly disease can find no lodgment in the human system; tho liver, kidneys, and intestines will perform their work perfectly and remain in perfect health; but interfero with tho proper digestion of food, and an unonding train of troubles is set in motion. About tho only thing that will upset tho stomach and interfere with the digestion is an excess of acid, usually caused by food fermentation. Food fermentation is duo to chemical action in tho food itself. This fermentation causes the formation of., gas, or wind, as well as acid, resulting in tho unnatural distention of tho stomach and the burning by the acid of tho delioato lining of the stomach. Medicines and tonics cannot relievo this condition —they usuallj' mako it worse. Tho fermentation and acid are to blame, and these must be overcomo and prevented by taking after meals half a teaspoonful cf bisurntcd magnesia in a little hob or cold water. Physicians recommend bisxirated nesia especially because it slops or prevents formenfcatjon of food and 'neutralises tho acid instantly, making it bland and harmless, without irritating or upsetting the stomach in any way. Get a little bisurated magnesia from your chemist and try it tho next time your food ferments and upsete your stomach. Note how quickly the ncid is neutralised, and how soon you forgot that, you have Mich a thing as a stomach. 561
