FIRES.
An outbreak of firo occurred at Simmer at 9.20 last night, in the rear portion of n houso known .is "Tho WcrrjbcH\" the property of ~Mr Camvay Matson. Tho main part of the house bad been shifted to a sito in Stoke etroot, and that part iv which tho tiro occurrtnl was ready for removal. Though tho Firo Brigade ivero promptly in uttpndnnce, und'or ox-Superintendent Phillips, the firo had too groat a hold, and tho' building was totally destroyed. When tliH alarm was piveu, ex-Supt?rin-tendont I*hillii>s had just risen to respond to the toast of liis health at a farewell .social being accorded him by the Sumnor Brass Band.
