SUMNER.
Tho installation of the new Mayor (Mr G. W. C. Smithson), and councillors for the borough, of Sumner took place last night. The late Mayor (Mr H. J. Marriner) occupied the chair, and invested the Mayor-elect with the Mayoral collar, and handed him the keys of office, at the same time wishing him a very happy reign. Before vacating tho chair, the late Mayor tlfanked tho lato councillors for tho cordial support ho had received during his tn;o years as Mayor of Sumner. ■
The -Mayor (Mr Smithson) thanked the late 'Mayor for his kindly expressions, and then occupied the chair. Councillors Brewer and Wood referred to the work of the late Mayor.
