POLL TO-DAY.
A poll of ratepayers in tho St. Mar tine tramway special rating area will ba takftn to-day on a proposal to raiso a loan of £15,000 to cover the cost ot a tramway extension to fet. Martin c. The proposed tramway will commence from tho junction of tho present Opawa tramway lino at the corner of Waitham road nnd Wordsworth street thenco by •way of Waltham road, Lnngdowne road and Hills road to the foot of tho> lulls at White's road, a distance of 144 chains. . , • In the event of the loan beinj? rejected by tho ratepayers, the Boaro undertakes to submit another propoea* for p. system of railless cars or a systeK of self-propelled Tehiclee used for extett sion or feeder purpose? in a number of English tramway systems. ~lt Ie not expected that the, operating expense* •will bo much less, but the initial capital expenditure will be. much smaller than for tho proposal submitted to-day. Tho polling place will bQ at Mm Lynn's house, corner Rodger etreet and Langdown's road, and the polling hours will be from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m.
