ONE OF THOSE WHO HAVE TO PAY.
TO THE EDITOR Of "THE PREB?." Sir, —Mr Sykes's assertion that recent extensions are tli rough services to the square in the same sense of the words as is the St. Martin's proposal is nothing Jess than a perversion of the true position, St. Martin's line will bo credited wjth the receipts on the whole rnn from the Hills to the Square. The extensions arc credited only With the terminal sections in the special area, so that a comparison of a whole service with a terminal portion only is grossly misleading and absurd. Why •does not Mr Sylces try his nostrum on his own "pet dog." Halswell. St. Martin's is willing and able to pay for what it requires, and it desires the same facilities as have been granted to other districts. I-. would add that the residents are quite satisfied with their representative on the Tramway Bonrd. the Hon. J. Barr. and prefer his guidante in this matter to that of Mr Svkes's. —Yours, etc., J LOXGTOX. May 6th. 1913.
