At the monthly meeting of the UVaipara County' Council, .the Rangiora Borough Council wrote asking'that five ladies of the county be asked to givo their services in waiting upon the seamen of H.M.S. New Zealand at the luncheon and tea at Rangiora on May 16th. It was decided to leave the matter in the clerk's hands to arrange. J. It was resolved to get an estimate made of the probable cost of the work applied for. The tender of Lochhead and Clarke, Scargill. -was accepted, at Is lid per yard, for shingling the Valley road. Mr Pannett was also authorised to emnloy them to do the shingling applied for by Mr Bnss. It was decided that a hnt on "wheels be purchased for the use of the surface man employed on the tip-dray, and that persona he cautioned acainst taking shingle from the Double Fords on the Omihi road.
