WAIPARA.

At the monthly meeting of the UVaipara County' Council, .the Rangiora Borough Council wrote asking'that five ladies of the county be asked to givo their services in waiting upon the seamen of H.M.S. New Zealand at the luncheon and tea at Rangiora on May 16th. It was decided to leave the matter in the clerk's hands to arrange. J. Elmers's tender of 5s per ton for haulr ago of material from Medbury railway station to the Waitoki bridge site was accepted. Mr G. G. Greig and Mr Acton-Adams applied to have about ten chains of Greig's road formed and metalled; It -was resolved that the applicants.be asked to contribute half tho cost of the work. Mr H. ActonAdams wrote regarding the construction of Roberts's cutting on the deviation, promised several times during the last three years. It was decided to reply that owing to shortne.ss of funds the work could not be undertaken at present. Mr G. G. Newton again applied for a bridge ovor the Sheepwash Creek at the end of Bentley's road. It wan agreed to inform him that tho Council would contribute not more.than £100 towards tho bridge and approaches, the bridge to carry four tons, provided tho settlers interested found the balance, such contributions to be in the hands of the Council before tho work be commenced. It was decided to appoint Foremen Lea'ry, Woraall and W. Mncfarlnne inspectors under the heavy traffic by-laws. Messrs Capstick and .McEvedy asked that some repairs be made to the Blythe Valley road. It was resolved to get an estimate made of the probable cost of the work applied for. The tender of Lochhead and Clarke, Scargill. -was accepted, at Is lid per yard, for shingling the Valley road. Mr Pannett was also authorised to emnloy them to do the shingling applied for by Mr Bnss. It was decided that a hnt on "wheels be purchased for the use of the surface man employed on the tip-dray, and that persona he cautioned acainst taking shingle from the Double Fords on the Omihi road.
