BANKRUPTCY.
ESTATE OF JAMES ROXBURGH,
■ • Tho first meeting of creditors of James Roxburgh, of Wainui, carpenter, ■was held yesterday. Mr Hunt appeared for tho debtor, and Mr "\Villiams for C. F. C. Wilson, tho principal creditor. v The statement showed: Total debts £230. 7s 6d, all due to unsecured . creditors; assets, nil. The principal unsecured creditors were:—C. P. O Wilson £108, E. Roxburgh £100, T. I>anks and Co. £12, Craddock Hardware Company £5 7s 6d, Forbes and Co. £5.
Tho bankrupt, in his statement,, said that ho owned 46 acres of freehold at Barry's Bay; and in August, 1906, he ,Fo!d tho property at £35 an acre. After settling his. debts lie had £1000 clear, . and ho then .took a lease of 140 acres at Wainui at a rental of £210. The property was represented a s a much better place than it turned out to be. Ho paid £368 for the stock on the place. The cows did not come into profit, and the cocksfoot season was a failure. Ho lost the wholo of his y",^, l on tho placc ' together with i.IOO borrowed from his wife. ■■•' Tho bankrupt was examined shortly, and tho meeting was then adjourned to enable a statement to be prepared showing the bankrupt's operations in connection with the farm.
