THE CHILDREN'S PART.
The Mayor said that he had to report a pleasing feature. Arrangements had been made for 15,963 primary school-children to visit tho warship. They would .receive refreshments in Lyttelton, and be well provided tor. Mr C. Allison said that there would also be 4000 or 5000 children from the secondary and high schools. It was estimated that to provide them all with refreshments at Lyttelton would cost £250. ~ I The Mayor said that the Minister of Railways had that day informed him that there was a strong desire on the part of children from as far south, as Waimate to come to Christchurch and go on to tho warship. Personally, as Mayor of Christchurch, he was delighted that Christchurch was proving so attractive. ' . Mr Allison said that they had arranged for three vessels to take children to and fro from the warship. Theso could take 2200 each trip.
