LADY WHITE'S HOUSE BURNED.
SUFFRAGETTES SUSPECTED. Field-Marshall Sir George White's widow's large house at Eaglefield Green has been destroyed by fire. The outrage is attributed to suffragettes. It is believed that the perpetrators entered the- empty mansion by means of skelton keys and saturated the, basement with petrol. The outbreak was discovered at ten o'clock i:% the morning. Messages inscribed "Votes for Women" and 'Stop torturing our comrades in prison," wero found in the ground. Women, who are suspected of causing the fire, wero seen cycling in the. neighbourhood after the outbreak. The damage, amounts to I'IOCO. (Received March 22nd, 1.10 a.m.) LONDON. March 21. The women sprinkled with spirits tho main stairway from the garret to the ground floor and propped the windows open so as to create a draught. Tho whole building was aflame simultaneously and burned for seven hours. Lady Whito was absent in the Riviera. Her-M-lf and her late- husband wero quite unconnected with the suffrage movement.
