SUMNER GALA.

A meeting of the Sumner Gila committee was held in the Council Chambers last night, •when final arrangements were made for tho Gala, which is to ba he.d to-morrow. It was resolved that the conditions laid down by tho Lyttelton Harbour Board with regard to making good any damage done to property or persons by tho display of fireworks be complied with. The arrangement for judges of the baby show was left in the hands Of the secretary.

Mr j. Stnnley Monck forwarded a cheque for one guinea, and regretted his inabi lty to take part in the Gala. _o be thanked. It was deeded to substitute Mr W. E. Sirucs's name for that oi Mr Monck as one of the judges. Ii wa3 resolved to give one pound as an additional prize for the fastest time in tho motor boat race.

As it was probable that less than fivo men would enter for the Council employees raco, ii was decided to add Mr Teape's donation of ono guinea to the general fund. Tlie secretary reported that the following additional donations ha_ been received:—Mr J. Stan cv Monck £1 Is, Mr H.-Patton £1 Is, Mr D. M. Ba.n £1 Is, Mrs Christer_en (second donation) £1 la, Mr T. Cloudslev 10s, Mr Mahomed 10?, Mr E. P. Jcrman ss, and also a number of promises.

Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs Maddren Bros, for the gift of lopes, and a'sD to Mr J. Illingworth fcr the loan of a sheep for the guessing competition.

Ii was resolved to invite the recretary of the Lvtte".ton Harbcur Board, the Port Harbour Master, and otners to attend the Gala.
