RAKAIA.
The weather lately has been changeable and windy. A few light .showers last, week did good. Yesterday an oldfashioned nor'-wester blew, stopping all work. The harvest will not be a long one. and the crops generally are not nearly equal to those of last year. A very considerable area of turnips and rape has been sown, and other Jnnd.s are ready to be sown. A soaking rain would be much appreciated, as the feed has jione off during the past, ten days. Harvesting will be in full swing in a week's time. The cocksfoot crop is being got in, and some good samples have been cut. A fair number of men have come into the district, but there will he a rush for more in a few days. Several machines are out for stook threshing early cats.
