MALVERN.
Another roasting day was experienced in the Malvern district yesterday, tho thermometer in the shade at 2 p.m. standing at 90 degrees. A strong nor'-west breeze was blowing all day, making it very unpleasant for out-side work. The continuous heat nnd dry weather is ripening off the crops rapidly, and harvesting earfy sonn oats is now becoming general from llolleston to Darfield, including tlie Courtcnay, Kimberley, and Greendale districts.' With a continuance of the present weather conditions, the wheat in these districts should be ready for the reaper in about a week or ten days, by which time harvesting .should be'general everywhere. Although the heat is rapidly burning up the grass, there is still ample feed for present requirements, hut as most of the fat stock is being held over owing to the unrest among the slaughtermen, a few days' rain would be welcomed and would ensure sufficient, feed everywhere for some time to come.
