Mr TJ W. Reeso prceided. -The. toast list- included sorao old toasts in new guises. "The Sky Pilot," proposed by Mr P. Hercus, and resoonded to by Rev. T. Tait; "Our Annual Jaunts" (B.C. camps), proposed by Mr N. H. Procter, and responded to by Mr W. 6. McGibbon; "Tie Cream of the Earth" (ladies), proposed by Mr S. R. McDonald, and responded to by Misses McWhirtor and Patterson; "Our Foreign Allies" (kindred . societies), proposed by Miss Rao Robertson, and responded to by Messrs Anderson and Plimsoll (V.M.C.A.); "The Skim of the Earth" (gentlemen), proposed by Mise H. Robertson, and responded to by Mr J. Stout; "The,. (Sunday school), - proposed by" Mr N.. Webster, and responded to by Mr Geo. Burn. Items were contributed by Misses Hassal and Patterson, and Messrs Cropp, Watt, and R. Chisholm, tho latter "giving some very clever and humorous impersonations of local celebrities. The speeches were competitive, the winners being Misses" McWhirter and H. Robertson, and vVIr .?. R. McDonald. The Rev. T. Tait acted as judge. The evening concluded with a toast to the Chairman, proposed by Mr Tennent, and a special vote of thanks to tho secretary (Miss Rae Rohertson), proposed by Mr B. l>. Johnston. A meeting of the combined executives of the South and East Christchurck tranches of tho.United. Labour Party was held on Wednesday night, Mr it. Hunter in, tho chair. It wes resolved that tho East and South branches should co-operate for tho purpose of working; the Sydenham of tho city, atul it-was also decided that the Labour Representation Committee should bo asked to convene a ]omt meeting o£ all tho branches at the earliest opportunity to secure tho return of 'representatives for, nil the wards of tho city and outlying boroughs. Buxton's grounds. Tfco. Chairman, Mr J. Longton, in an introductory speech, referred to tho various im- ! provoroonts which had henx, carried out in tho district. Referring to tho proposed lr.lmvr.ly for St. Martins, ho said that tho Association was strongly opposed to tho trackless system. "Speeches wero rmuln by the Hon. ,T. Barr. M.L.C.. Mr Geo.
