BOYS , HIGH SCHOOL v. CHRIST'S COLLEGE.

Tho match between Boys' High School and Christ's Collego was concluded yesterday, when School won by two wickets, alter a most exciting finish, although at one timo their chances looked anything but bright.

Richards and Pinckney, the two not out men, resumed the second innings for College, but the former soon left, being lbw to Hickmott. None of tho others gavo Pinckney much assistance except Bush, Hopkins and Barnett, and the innings closed for 113. Pinckney being unbeaten for a well-played 37. Hickmott secured five wickets for 24 runs.

With 79 to get to win ? School opened j their second innings with Evans and Tench. Tho former soon got going, hut lost Tench, who was stumped, and j Guiney nnd Hickmott being out soon j after, the hones of the School sup- j porters were practically nil. However, tho tail wagged to good purpose, and by steady batting and resolute defence the score, crept Up, although the batting at this stage was anything but interesting to the spectators. The wickets fell fairly regularly, ■ and when 'Millikin was dismissed after contributing an invaluable 15; the board showed GO—7—ls. Wright, tho newcomer, proved to bo tho hero of the match, for ho scored 12 in good stylo, showing excellent judgment in running ! between tho wickets. The eighth wicket fell with tho score at 73, and b" runs were still required to win, and tho excitement became intense, every run being applauded. Wright scored 4 off Hopkins, three beinsx overthrows, and a single, and then McKay made tho winning hit amidst cheering and applause, the School supporters rushing the ground and carrying tho batsmen off shoulder high. Hickmott, tho School captain, secured the excellent-figures of five for 41 and five for # 24 in the College first and .second innings. Bowrbn 10), and 79 (Woods 10, Graham 17, Gardiner 11, Kirk 14, McGregor 10 not out); College 108 (Harrison 11, Byrdon 23, L. Moore 25, Barnett 16), and 27 for two wickets (Harrison 21). Ilutlierford (seven) and Byrdon (six) took the wickets for College, and Graham (four) and' Woods (two) for School.
