Owing to it bein<_ a. very wet night the attendance fell considerably below expectations. Among those present were Sir Joseph Ward, General Godley, and Drs. Izard and. G'iSri-an. Tho referee waa Mr T. ' Sampson, the other officials being Messrs H. SHorplin and K. Cooke, judges; A. Laurenson aad L. W. Ludwig, timekeepers; Drs. Gilmer, Herbert, Tolhurst and Harding, medical officers. . Tho matches proved very interesting, some of tho bouts being very evenly contested. The results up to 11.45 p.m. are as follow: "Wclter-weicht—H.' "Withoy (Otago) beat E. Minifie (Wellingrton). Feather-weight—T. Thompson. Bs*t 13lb (Southland) beat C. Leary, Bet 101b (Wellington). Heavy-weight — V. Cauldwell. 13st lib (Wunganui) beat-J. Cole, 12st 4lb (Manawatu). Light-weight—R. Simpeon, 9st 11 Jib (Christ-church) boat "bpi" Thomas, 9st 9lb (Otaki). Midd!o-wei*?ht—C. G Cate, lOst 13lb (Gisborne) beat J. Hughes, list lib (Southland). Feather-weight —' A. Jervois, Bst l£lb (Manawatu) beat E. T. Gundry, 9st (Ashhurton). Tim Tracy was, in the interval, presented with a frara<xl illuminated address.and a diamond ring for Mrs Tracy, on the occasion of his leaving the pugilistic ring."
