Tui Cakobau, who looking very fit, and Gaelic were associated in a .gallop once round; Tbe former, on tho outside, appeared to go best. Ceylon had a big advantage in thc weights, and easily beat Alexis and another, over five furlongs, which occupied lmin lOeec. Soman (Packer), Knutsiord (Traill), Captain Jinglo, (Jco O'Connell), ar.d Gold Bird (R. Thompson* woto echooled over the steeplechase fences. Knutsiord dislodged his rider at tho brush, but the others jumped well. Darby Paul, Ngatiruanui, Compass, and Amaru were assigned moderate tasks.
