LAND SETTLEMENT.
STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER.
(rREBS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 13. The Hon. W. F. Massey states that he has given instructions to have several estates inspected, with a view to their purchase for closer settlement." The Government has already decided to acquire Mr J. Lethbridge's Shcrendon Estate, of 8300 acres, in Hawke's Bay. There would bo some land legislation this session, but he was not prepared to say whether the Government had time this session to face the big policy questions that havo to 'be dealt with.
