MR LEWIS HAMILTON.
Last Tuesday another early colonist passed away in tho person of Mr Lewis Hamilton, of Greenparjj. Born in Country' Down, Ireland, in 1825> Mr Hamilton was brought up to farming pursuits. With his wife (neo Miss Margaret Findlay) ho landed in Lyttelton b.v tho Zealandia, on May '24th, 1362—just over fifty years ago. For Komo time ho worked for tho lato. Mv John Miln, of To llepo, Lincoln road, Halswell. About forty vearw ago he moved out to a farm of his own, where ho had ever since resided, in wbftt was then tho swampy district of Greenpark, of which ho was ono of tho early settlers. For some years Mr Hamilton was a member of the local school committee. His wifo predeceased him nine years ago. Mr Hamilton reared a largo family, of six sons and twelve daughters, and is survived by about fifty grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
