ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.

There was a goexl attendance at tho weekly stock sale held at the Tinwald I yards yesterday, but tho entry showed a decrease of 3400 on the previous week's sale, all stores. Tho yarding of fats was again a large one, principally lambSj but the quality was not up to tho standard, and several lines of unfinished lambs were passed by auction. Freezing buyers were operating; freely in all eTasses, and while prices for lambs were equal to last week's rates, ewes were easier. Ewes made np to 13s 7d, wethers to 17s (id, and lambs to 17s 3ld. P.rioes obtained wore as follow: —Primo freezing ewes 12s to 13s 7d, medium weights 10s Id to lis 7d, light and inferior 8s Od to 9s Gd; primo wethers los 8d to 17s Od, others 14s to 14s Gd; prime freezing lambs 15s to 16s 3d l , extra heavy 17s lid. medium weights 14s to 14s Bd. light weights 12s. Principal sales were:—Ewes: 62 thravquarterbreds lis _d, 23 at 10s lOd, 30 at 12s, 46 at lis Id, .50 halfbreds lis 7d, 45 at 13s Gd, 80 at 10s 2d, 49 at lis 2d, 2G at 10s 9d. 30 at lis, 88 at lis, 03 at f)s 6d. Wethers: Two-tooth halfbreds lis, 81 crossbreds los Bd. Lanrbs: •If) at 14s, 77 at los oxl. 08 at 14s 2d, 62 at 17s lid, 113 at los 2d, 22-1 at los 4d, 135 at 14s, 272 at- 14s (3d. 100 at 15s 4d, 42 at los 9d, 80 at los 9d, 43 at los, 63 at lis od. There was a decided improvement in the store sliecp market, two-tooth ewes being keenly competed for, and prices ranged to 18s 7d, while sound-mouth ewes mado up to IGs 3d. Of the total yarding of 5507 only 1967 were passed by auction. The principal sales were: —43 soundmonth merino ewes 4s 2d, 41 halfbred lambs (mixed sexes) 10s, 105 threeejnarterbreel late wether lambs 7s, 130 halfbred lambs (mixed sexes) lis 10d, 94 three-quarterbred late ewe lambs 9s 4d, 105 six and eight-tooth halfbred wethers 12s 7d. 100 two and four-tooth at 13s od, 101 fmir-tooth at 14s 7d, 115 sound-mouth three-quarterbred ewes at lis Gd, 330 four, six and eight-tooth at 14s'•'"id, 200 sound and failing mouth at lis Id, 153 two-tooth at los Gd, 102 failing-mouth at 7s 3d, 72 two-tooth halfbred ewes 18s 7d. 120 sound and failing mouth at 10s lOd, 65 four, six and eight-tooth at 13s 4d; 235 failing mouth at 7s 9d, 10G two-tooth at His 4d; 144 sound-month, at 16s 3d, 115 at 13s Gd, 28 sound and failing at 12s Id.. 35 at lis 2d, 194 sound-mouth crossbred ewes 15s.
