A WELL-KNOWN JOCKEY KILLED.
A Prase Association message statee that the jockey Albert Whitaker was killed by a fall from the horso Manwero. at tho Ohinelnuri J cokey Cluba Annual Meeting , at .Faeroa on Saturday. It appears that whilo contesting the Netherton Weiter Handicap, Manwera fell, bringing down Sliplink, on whom A McFl-nn hud the mount, liolh jockeys wero rendered unconscious. Whitaker sustaining concussion of the brain. McFlynn later recovered consciousness, but Whitaker died at the Pa«roa railwey station while waiting to be taken to *he Tham*3 Hos. pital. The deceased was a well-known Auckland horseman, and during the past few seasons has ridden with a considerable amount of success in the North Icland. For the "season ending on the 31st July, 1911, Whitakor was Fecond on the Hpt of winning horsemen in New Zealand, scoring 77 wins, and in the 1909-10 season ho was eighth on the list with 08 wins. Whl'o ridic/r at the Htintley Meeting, a fixture in the Auckland province, some years ago, Whitnker performed the task o{ winning bix of tho seven races on tho day's card.
