The striko is checking tho demand for all classes of produce, and retailers are restricting their operations in view of the reduction in the workers' spending powers.

Butter—Tho market is vory dull. Buyers are reserved, aud prices generally aro easier. Danish is unchanged. Choicest Australian 124s to 1265, and, occasionally, 1275; secondary, 120s to 1225; New Zealand, 128s to 130s. ■-Cheese —The market is firm. New Zealand 72s to 735. A considerable quantity of tho Ruahine's shipment was heated, apparently prior .to shipment. Tho underwriters have allowed Bd'to 2s per cwt.
