MR MASSEY'S WITHDRAWAL.

(special to "the press"). WELLINGTON, February 26. Mr Massey's withdrawal of all imputations against members regarding bribery does not necessarily make any difference to tho work of the Committee of .Privileges. The Committeo can bo relieved of its duties only oy fresh instructions from the House. Further, there is Mr Payne's allegation that- he was offered a bribe. This is quite independent of tho other matters before the Committee. It is quite likely that tho proceedings will be of a rather stormy character. Application, will be mado to the House for leave for the Committee to sit during the afternoon. sittings of tho House, and an extension of time must also be asked for. Having been constituted by the House, tho Committee will not bo affected by any change in the Ministry which may occur. ,
