LEESTON SALE.

The attendance at Leeston sale on Friday was well up to the average, and there was a fair entry of stock. All classes of fat stock remained firm in values, and there was an improved demand for store sheep and cattle. Dairy cattlo also mot with a good sale. Forward hoptfets (shorn) made 13s 9d; forward wethers (shorn), 15s 3d to-16s: fat ewes, 14s to 20s. Tho entry of pigs was fairly numerous. Choppers made up to 87s; baconers, 5Gs od to 775, equal to 5Ju per lb: porkers, 31s to 455, equal to 5Jd per lb; large stores made 20s to 35s . 6d; and small, 9s 6cl to 15s. Fat cows realised £5 12s 6d to £8 7s fid. Forward steers, £6; springers, £5 to £8 10s; dry cows, £2; calves, 24s to 30s; yeariings 455; bulls, £2 10s to £4 ss. OOALGATE. On Friday at Coalgato market there •was an entry of 1620 sheep and lambs, only 120 of which were in the fat pens, 83 teing lambs. In the store pens tho bulk consisted of ewes -with lambs, both crossbred and merinos being represented, the balance of the entry being made up of hoggets and dry ewes; the majority_of tho sheep were out of the -wooL There was a good attendance, and competition was strong, but in a few cases owners were looking for higher figures than buyers were pre-. •pared to give. Prices were: —Fat crossbred ewes (shorn) 15s, fat lambs (freezers) 14s, lighter, weights 12s sd; four-tooth crossbred ewes (shorn) 14s lid, crossbred wether hoggets (shorn) lla 9d to 12s, mixed sexes lls 3d to 11s 7d,. sound-mouth crossbred ewes (woolly) and lambs 12a 7d all counted, aged 9s 7d, shorn four-tooth crossbred ewes with lambs (rough, and low condition) lls 2d all counted, sound to fail-ing-mouth (shorn) 9s lid, sound to fail-ing-mouth merino ewes (woolly) and lambs 8s Id all counted, sound-mouth (shorn) and lambs 7s 6d all counted. The 'firm then, in conjunction with tho I New Zealand Farmers' Co-operatrro Association and Mr H. A. Lloyd, offered on account of Mr I. M.
