HINDS.
A meeting under the auspices of the Ashburton branch of tho JSavy League was held in Hinds Public Hall, and was well attended. The Rev. J. H. Rogers, M.A., acted as chairman. Mr I'asco delivered a vigorous and inspiring address on tho aims and objects of the League, assisted by limelight views manipulated by Mr T. Gibbs. Other speakers were Mr Studholme (Coldstream) and Mr C. W. JNicoll (Ashburton). Musical items were rendered by the Hinds Orchestra, and Messrs T. Gibbs and T. Gardener sang patriotic eongs. At the conclusion & fair number of new members were enrolled. The visitors were entertained at the vicarage by the Rev. J. H. Rogers.
